L’idea del mio progetto è basata sull’utilizzo di impianti di depurazione delle acque e contemporaneamente lo sfruttamento degli scarti che ne vengono prodotti. Vorremmo trasformare questi scarti in maniera da ottenere delle forme di energia utile. Questo tipo di tecnologia potrebbe essere applicata all’industria, ci sono molte opportunità e declinazioni di utilizzo. Credo che il compito della ricerca in un contesto come quello di Expo sia quello di catalizzare l’attenzione delle persone, non solo il pubblico ma anche scienziati e designer affinchè si concentrino e sviluppino anche progetti che limitino i rifiuti e li rendano utili per l’umanità.

Polytechnic for Expo
The idea for my project is based on the use of water treatment plants and on the exploitation of the waste that they produce. We’d like to transform this waste in order to obtain useful energy sources. This kind of technology could be applied to manufacturing, there are many opportunities and variations of use. I believe that the role of research in a context such as Expo is to raise awareness, not only in the general public but also in scientists and designers, so that they decide to focus on and develop projects that reduce waste and make it useful for mankind.
